Larry E. Riley died in Missoula on October 24th, 2020 at age 79. He was born in Jordan, MT., went to school in Jordan and Roundup, attended the University of Montana and graduated from the Law School in 1966. He practiced law with the Missoula law firm of Garlington, Lohn and Robinson retiring in 2016 after 50 years of practice. Following retirement, he directed the Elder Justice Program for Missoula Aging Services.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Dianna Reber Riley on November 14, 2015. For fifty-three years and two weeks Dianna was the absolute center of his life. She made joy and happiness easy and normal! He is survived by their five children and five grandchildren.

Larry was profoundly grateful for Dianna and their family and friends; for the privilege of living in Missoula; for practicing law with the Garlington Firm; and for his volunteer work with Missoula Aging Services.

At his request, a private family service has been held. Arrangements are under the care of Cremation and Burial Society of the Rockies.

Larry and Diana (who was my cousin) were always favorite relatives of my mom and dad, Warren and Fran Davis. I still have a framed poem on my dresser --the lyrics of a song sung at my wedding---which they sent to me after attending our wedding. Many years later, when I was teaching at the U and in Missoula quite a bit, we would run in to Larry taking his grandkids in a large wagon to the dairy queen, or with them downtown at the market, or at Bonner park near their family home. He once told me that the DQ would give you "mistakes" if you asked!! Our sympathy to all of your family.

Larry was a great lawyer and person. He was an example for all of us. He will be greatly missed. He made significant contributions to our community. We hope that his family will be comforted by their memories and by the knowledge that Larry made this a better world for many people.

When I was in college at the University of Montana the Rileys were active in the campus ministry and served as excellent role models for students. I still think of their great ministry and outreach to students like me. They were an awesome and generous couple and inspiring followers of Jesus. To their family members: you should be very proud of your parents! Kevin Campana, UM 75, UM JD 78.
